This Week
July 1, 2005

I'm going to Glendora this Saturday (July 2) to juggle with the Gravity Labs juggling club. Meet there from 4:00pm to 7:00pm if you'd like, or contact me to carpool. Find more information here.

Anyone who is planning on being in the Fourth of July parade who has not already emailed me should let me know really soon so we know to wait for you. Plan to meet at Kimberly's apartment on Nutwood Ave. at 7:20 am, NOT at the Science/Engineering lawn like I had said previously. You'll need to contact me for the specific address. Alternately, you can meet us at the check in area at the parade start at 8:00am, or possibly find us in the parade lineup if you miss us there. The CSUF Juggling Club will be number 86 in the parade. Details are here.

Coming June 18th
June 11, 2005

The LA Unicycle Roundup is coming up in just a week, and details are now set. The event will take place on Saturday, June 18 at Lake Balboa in the San Fernando Valley. Gathering time is between 10:30am and 11:00am by the play area. Bring a lunch and a unicycle. I will be driving up, so if you're interested in going and would like to carpool, you can contact me. I've posted more details about the event, along with directions and maps of the park, here.

June 18th is also World Juggling Day. Take part in this world-wide event simply by taking some time to juggle on that day. Find some friends and head to the park, or just do some juggling at home. Be sure to visit the World Juggling Day website and register for a chance to win juggling props and videos; all it takes is a name and an email address. The website also hosts a list of organized juggling events for the day, including one held by the Orange Jugglers in Irvine Regional Park.

I may be heading to Finkbiner Park in Glendora after the LA Unicycle Roundup to join the Glendora Gravity Labs juggling club, so if you're free, head out there to juggle from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Directions can be found here.

Fourth of July Parade
June 6, 2005

The CSUF Juggling Club will be participating in the 2005 Lake Forest Fourth of July parade on Monday, July 4, 2005. The parade starts at 10:00am at the corner of Toledo Way and Ridge Route Drive (in front of El Toro High School) and ends at the corner of Lake Forest Drive and Serrano Road, which is a distance of about one mile. We will meet at the check-in area at 8:00am, and we may eat before the parade begins at 10:00am. Participating members should wear khaki shorts or pants and a blue shirt if possible.

Anyone wishing to participate MUST contact me beforehand. Tell me whether you intend to juggle, ride a unicycle, carry an identification banner, or simply walk along in the parade. Anyone, including non-jugglers and non-CSUF Juggling Club members, may participate in the parade.

To carpool to the parade from the CSUF campus, meet at the Science/Engineering Lawn in front of the Student Health Center at 7:20 am (no later than 7:30 am).

The CSUF Juggling Club's parade application has been submitted, and I will send a follow-up email once we have confirmation of acceptance in the parade, which should be no later than Tuesday, June 28.

Directions and more information can be found here. Parade guidelines, application, and route map, along with other official information can be found at the City of Lake Forest website.

The End of the Semester
May 23, 2005

There is no weekly meeting this Wednesday during finals week, but the juggling club will be getting together at Rolling Hills Park this Saturday (May 28) at 4:00pm. Come by and have a good time once summer's here. Bring your juggling props, whatever park games you want to play, and snacks if you want to picnic. You can find directions and more information here. Hope to see you there!

We've still got the LA Unicycle Roundup and Fourth of July parade coming up, as well as a few other possible events throughout the summer, so keep checking your emails and the website for updates.

Good luck on finals, everyone! Have a great summer, and keep on juggling!

Approaching Summer
May 10, 2005

This Friday night (May 13), we will be meeting at Kimberly and Cassie's apartment on Nutwood Ave. to watch the previously broadcast World Juggling Federation competitions. Meet at the apartment at 9:00pm. Talk to or email me for the address.

There are only two regular weekly meetings remaining this semester. Our last meeting of the semester will take place on Wednesday, May 18th. We will not be meeting during finals week.

A few members are still borrowing juggling beanbags. You must return any borrowed equipment to me before the end of the semester. Sets of multi-colored beanbags can be purchased for $5. Contact me if you cannot make it to the meetings.

Please email me if you can participate in the Lake Forest Fourth of July parade on Monday, July 4th. Right now, only a few people are committed. We want to have a good-sized group walking in the parade. If you cannot juggle, you can still participate in the parade.

Rod Wylie has announced more definite details on the LA Unicycle Roundup in June. From his email:

"The date for the event is Saturday, June 18, 2005. Gathering time is between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m. Then at @11:00 a.m., riders can go out for a group ride. Nothing is etched in stone. Riders not wanting to do the complete 3-mile ride, can turn around at any time. A separate but longer route for Coker riders, will be available as an alternate. Basically, the schedule is to gather, ride, and have lunch and hangout. There is no ending time. But, even showing up for 30 minutes is encouraged. The location is still Lake Balboa in the San Fernando Valley. This is located near the 101 and 405 interchange..."

"...If anyone wants to try out some trials lines, you will be able to find them within 100 feet of the table on some man-made rock formations that perimeter the children’s play area. Watching is also fun. I will bring some unicycles from my stable for anyone to try. This will include a MUni, a trials unicycle with Profile hub, and a 29er. I will mark the table somehow with a large banner or sign that will make it easy to find.

May 2, 2005

We will be going up to Glendora this Saturday, (May 7) to meet with the Glendora Gravity Labs juggling club. The club is relatively new, and meets every Saturday at Finkbiner Park from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Meet at the CSUF science/engineering lawn no later than 3:20pm to carpool. Directions and more information can be found here.

Rod Wylie, of MountainUnicyclingLA.com, is planning a possible LA Unicycle Roundup in late June. In case anyone's interested in heading up for that, I'll announce more details as they are available. You can also see his rec.sport.unicycling post for tentative details.

As a reminder, the CSUF Juggling Club is planning to enter the Lake Forest Fourth of July Parade, which will take place on Monday, July 4th. I will need to know who will be participating in that, so anyone who is interested please let me know.

Juggling in Riverside
April 11, 2005

I will be coming to this Wednesday's Juggling Club meeting (April 13) at 1:00 pm, rather than 12:00. Feel free to show up at noon, anyway, but I will be unable to join until 1:00 pm.

We're off to a great start this semester. As a reminder, weekly meetings are held every Wednesday at noon on the Science/Engineering Lawn. I'll always stay for as long as someone is there, so stop by for as long as you like. Thanks to everyone who's been coming.

Meetings for the spring semester will still take place every Wednesday at 12:00 Noon on the Science/Engineering Lawn in front of the Student Health Center. Hopefully that will work with most members' schedules, but if not, we can consider changing the time later.

There will not be a meeting tomorrow, February 2. Instead, the first meeting of the semester will take place on the following Wednesday, February 9. I will try to get flyers advertising the meeting posted soon. Please be sure to come to the first meeting if at all possible.
